About Hákonarætt
Hákonarætt Fellowship is a religious fellowship dedicated to preserving, teaching, and carrying forward the Old Norse tradition. Through religious resources, education, ministry, formation, and fellowship, Hákonarætt supports practitioners in living the tradition with seriousness, responsibility, and continuity across generations.
The House of Hákon
Hákonarætt takes its name from Hákon the Good, whose life stands at the meeting of faith, leadership, learning, and responsibility. His example informs our commitment to thoughtful religious life, responsible leadership, and the preservation of the Old Norse tradition for future generations.

Across many hearths, practitioners are joined by a shared commitment to the Old Norse religious tradition and to carrying that inheritance forward with honor and responsibility.
Our Shared Tradition
We revere the Gods, remember the ancestors, respect the landvættir, and look to the Eddas, sagas, historical sources, and inherited customs as guides. Through blót, sumbel, seasonal tides, study, hospitality, and fellowship, we pursue communities shaped by honor, frith, responsibility, and wisdom.

HÁKONARÆTT FELLOWSHIP
The religious fellowship through which practitioners share tradition, resources, ministry, formation, and a commitment to carrying the Old Norse tradition forward.
MINISTRY & FORMATION
Hákonarætt provides religious ministry and pastoral support, including Prison Ministry, and oversees the formation, discernment, and ordination of qualified candidates called to serve as Gothar within the Hákonarætt tradition.
HÁKONARÆTT INSTITUTE OF EDDIC STUDIES
HIES is the educational ministry of Hákonarætt Fellowship, providing structured online study of Eddic literature, Old Norse religion, leadership, and related religious and cultural traditions.
Our Story
Hákonarætt grew from the work of preserving and living the Old Norse religious tradition in local community. Hákonar Highland Rim Kindred in Middle Tennessee served as the original local hearth from which the broader vision of Hákonarætt developed.
From that beginning, the vision expanded beyond a single local community. Hákonarætt Fellowship developed to support practitioners through shared religious resources, education, ministry, formation, and fellowship while encouraging the growth of strong, independently organized local kindreds.
Today, Hákonarætt seeks to build enduring religious institutions and resources capable of carrying the tradition forward across generations.
Building for Generations
Hákonarætt is built with the future in mind. Our work is not only to preserve what has been inherited, but to cultivate knowledgeable practitioners, responsible religious leaders, meaningful ministries, enduring institutions, and strong local communities through which the Old Norse tradition can be lived and passed from one generation to the next.
What we inherit, we have a responsibility to carry forward.
