Ministry Beyond Walls
Hákonarætt Fellowship recognizes that incarceration does not remove a person's need for religious study, spiritual formation, or meaningful connection with tradition. Our Prison Ministry serves incarcerated individuals seeking to learn about and practice the Old Norse religious tradition with seriousness, dignity, and responsibility.
Through correspondence, religious resources, and pastoral support, the Fellowship seeks to make thoughtful religious engagement available to those whose circumstances limit access to community and religious materials.
What the Ministry Provides
Religious Resources
Provide appropriate readings, study materials, and religious resources that help incarcerated practitioners engage seriously with the Eddas, sagas, religious tradition, ethics, and devotional life.
Correspondence
Maintain religious correspondence with incarcerated individuals seeking guidance, encouragement, or opportunities for deeper study of the tradition.
Pastoral Support
Provide appropriate pastoral support for individuals seeking to develop a disciplined and responsible religious life while incarcerated.
Religious Education
Prison Ministry is a ministry of Hákonarætt Fellowship and is distinct from Hákonarætt Institute of Eddic Studies (HIES). Educational resources provided through Prison Ministry do not by themselves constitute enrollment in an HIES academic program or result in academic credit.
